Personal Protective Equipment

Many of the courses at Southern Cross require specialist equipment, just as in the work place. Students are required to have these “tools of trade” with them for all practical lessons. Listed here are all of the equipment requirements for each course:

Construction, Furniture Making and Automotive

Specific overalls are required to be worn for practical participation in these courses. These are available from Burwood Disposals at the special SCCVC discounted price (approx. $70.00). Overalls for these courses are identical and a student can utilise the one set across the courses if the cleanliness and condition of the overalls is consistent with the course standard requirements. A black T-Shirt or polo should be worn under the overalls. Steel capped boots are compulsory. Burwood Disposals stock a number of brands at discount prices. Safety glasses, ear plugs and dust masks will be supplied by the College. All students in these ‘Heavy Trades’ courses are required to obtain a locker at an annual cost of $10.00. (Refer to the Locker Contract obtained from the office)

Early Childhood Education & Care

An apron is required for practical work. These are available from Burwood Disposals (approx. $12).
