Just over 10 years ago, as Dr Dan White commenced his role as the Executive Director of the Catholic Education Office, Sydney, one of Dan’s first roles was the announcement of a new school and educational offering within the Archdiocese – namely Southern Cross Catholic Vocational College (SCCVC).
Dan’s 10 year service and commitment included an educational visit to each of the 152 schools within the now Sydney Catholic Schools. It was fitting then, that as Dan’s impressive time of leadership drew to a close, one of his final educational visits, on March 4, was to SCCVC.
As Dan, and the Inner West Secondary Schools Consultant, Ms Libby Denny, toured our state-of-the-art facilities and engaged with students and staff, there was much to commend and celebrate.
- Committed, wise and experienced staff engaged with young adults seeking applied learning and training opportunities
- Enterprise and Partnership staff enabling vital training opportunities and relationships with Business and Industry partners
- Apprenticeship, Employment and Traineeship opportunities successfully integrated into the HSC, adding experience and a career headstart for many
- SCCVC as a nationally recognised Centre of Excellence, providing an important lead role within Sydney Catholic Schools Vocational Education and Training.
We thank Dan for his purposeful, vision rich leadership. We now welcome Mr Tony Farley to the role of Executive Director.
As Dan moves into retirement, the gift that the Archdiocesan Secondary Principals gave to him was a beautiful timber bench, an inviting feature piece for a garden setting, produced by Mr Ben Treloar and a group of SCCVC Furniture Making students.
May retirement afford you some time on this bench Dan – reflecting on your impressive career, and sharing time with loved ones.
